Les Blancs at the National Theatre: A Story of Race and Identity Raisin in the Sun , Lorraine Hansberry’s final play is a search for the soul of post-colonial Africa. Under Farber’s direction, the play moves away from realism and toward expressionism, even as it becomes a kind of ghost story, in the sense that no one participating in colonialism — as oppressor, oppressed or ostensibly neutral observer — can ever be fully alive.
